Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry is the field of dentistry dealing with the enhancement of a person's aesthetic beauty. Through cosmetic dentistry, teeth can be corrected to yield a more favorable response from the patient. Many patients undergo special dental procedures to successfully gain self-confidence, satisfaction, and oral health.
One of the cosmetic dental procedures, gap closure, is a method of closing unfavorable gaps or openings between teeth. This problem can be solved through dental bonding, porcelain veneers, and orthodontic braces.
Tooth reshaping and/or reconstructive surgery is a method by which cracked, decayed, or oddly shaped teeth can be molded into a more aesthetically beautiful set of teeth. Generally two techniques -- veneers and bonding -- are used to reshape teeth.
Another cosmetic dental procedure, tooth replacement, is especially useful for filling up the space of a missing tooth with an artificial tooth. Dental bridges and dental implants can be used in tooth replacement.
Using methods such as teeth whitening techniques allow one to obtain a brighter smile. |
