Bonding and Composite Veneers

Bonding and composite veneers are two alternatives to porcelain veneers. For patients who desire the look of veneers yet do not want to lose any part of their natural teeth, bonding is the best choice. Although bonding is not as strong as porcelain veneers, it still has the natural feel and look of real teeth.

Tooth bonding is done in 5 basic steps: the dentist first prepares the tooth to be bonded. The tooth is then coated with a gel, bonding primers, and resins. The composite veneer or tooth bond is applied and a high intensity light hardens the veneer to your tooth. If your dentist chooses, he or she can then sculpt the tooth to make it look like your other teeth in shape.

Tooth Bonding Pluses and Minuses

Bonding is not as permanent as are porcelain veneers. However, like porcelain veneers, great care will yield lasting results.
